CHIPDRIVE Micro 130 Availability Update - Feb. 10, 2004
The CHIPDRIVE micro 130 has been discontinued as of January 1, 2004 and has
permanently been replaced with the SCR335 USB reader. The SCR335 uses the
newer STCII controller chip in place of the CDM43M chip that was used in the
micro 130. This makes the SCR335 faster and easier to use since it is
completely PC/SC certified and the drivers are already included in the
Windows 2000 and XP operating systems making the SCR335 truly plug and play.
The form factor of the SCR335 is identical to the micro 130. However, the
CHIPDRIVE SCard interface that was used for the micro 130 does not support
the SCR335. Instead, the SCR335 uses the industry standard PC/SC interface
for microprocessor card support and the MCard interface for memory card
support. For help with converting your application code to support the
SCR335 please visit our PC/SC and MCard development tool pages at:
http://www.txsystems.com/scm_development.html For customers that are
looking for an alternative to the micro 130 there are several options.
CHIPDRIVE readers that will work with existing micro 130 applications:
CHIPDRIVE Micro 120: Serial version of the micro 130 (supported indefinitely)
CHIPDRIVE Extern 330: Identical to the micro 130 but in the extern "desktop" form factor. (supported indefinitely)
SCM SCR readers that may require PC/SC and/or MCard code updates to support
existing micro 130 applications.
SCM SCR335: Identical form factor to the micro 130 using the PC/SC and
MCard interfaces. (New version of the micro 130 using the STCII single chip
solution technology.)
SCM SCR331: Slightly larger form factor than the micro 130 using the PC/SC
and MCard interfaces. (Includes built in mounting adhesive and retractable
stand.)
